RECIPE FOR CHEAP TERIYAKI CHICKEN RICE BOWL
**RECIPE for Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl**
**Ingredients:**
- 2 cups white rice (used)
- 2 chicken breasts, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup ready-to-use teriyaki sauce
- 1/4 cup soya sauce
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
- 1 cup of broccoli, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup carrots, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup onion, cut into small cubes
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Thinly sliced green onions (optional)
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
**How to make:**
1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or non-stick skillet. Sauté the onions, broccoli and carrots for 3-5 minutes or until the vegetables are slightly soft. Remove and set aside.
2. In the same pan, add more oil if needed. Saute the chicken pieces until they change color and are fully cooked.
3. Combine teriyaki sauce, soya sauce, sugar, garlic powder, and ground ginger (if using) in a small bowl. Stir well.
4. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the chicken. Cook, stirring frequently, for a few minutes until the sauce begins to thicken and stick to the chicken.
5. Return the sauteed vegetables to the pan with the chicken. Mix well and let it all heat together.
6. Heat white rice in the microwave or steam again if necessary.
7. To serve, take a large bowl or heatproof plate. Place rice on the bottom of the bowl.
8. Pour the chicken and vegetable mixture with sauce over the rice.
9. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and garnish with lettuce leaves if desired.
